Joseph Stalin was the second leader of the USSR, after Vladmir Lenin. He was born on December 8, 1878 and was a great leader of the Bolshevik revolutionaries, which is a bit similar to the USSR. He was represented by Napoleon the pig in Animal Farm. They were both inspired by the works/speech of Karl Marx/Old major, and both used dictatorship when they were in power of the respective revolutions, the Russian revolution and the Rebellion. Stalin and Trotsky's rivalry was represented by the rivalry of Napoleon and Snowball, which was representing Trotsky. To kill Trotsky and gain complete control of the USSR, Stalin created a secret police force called the NKVD, which is very similar to the guard dogs Napoleon used to chase Snowball out of the farm to become the leader of Manor Farm. Both the NKVD and the guard dogs were used to ensure their position as leaders. Whoever disagrees in communism in the USSR are send straight to prison camp to be killed, similar to how Napoleon kills any animal that are in a alliance with Snowball. The animal pig was used to represent Stalin because the greediness of pigs can represent the greed in power of Stalin, which ultimately made him corrupted and became a dictator. Pigs are also wise which can represent the smartness of Stalin in killing Trotsky to gain absolute power. "Joseph Stalin (1879-1953)"2013 "Stalin"2013
